Mridanga Yoga
« on: January 13, 2014, 05:59:16 AM »
If actress Goldie Hawn had seen an astrologer shortly after the birth of her daughter, Kate Hudson, and asked whether her daughter would follow in her footsteps and become a famous actress, would the astrologer have been able to answer this question?!

If the astrologer knew Mridanga Yoga, and one other key piece of the puzzle, s/he would likely have said yes!!!  ;D

According to B.V. Raman, the definition of Mridanga Yoga is, "The lord of the Navamsa occupied by an exalted planet should be posited in a trine or quadrant identical with friendly or exalted sign, and the lord of Lagna should be strongly disposed" (from pages 68-69 in Three Hundred Important Combinations).

Here is the birth info for Kate Hudson, and attached below is her Jyotisha natal chart.

Now, we will soon see how Kate Hudson's Hindu astrology natal chart remarkably meets this definition for Mridanga Yoga...

First, please notice that she has a total of 3 exalted planets--Jupiter in Cancer, Sun in Aries, and Venus in Pisces!!!  Let's take them one at a time.

Jupiter in Cancer occupies the sign of Leo in her navamsha chart (please see attached navamsha chart below).  The lord of Leo is the Sun, and the Sun in her natal chart is exalted in her 10th House, which is a kendra or quadrant house.  Condition met.

Sun in Aries occupies the sign of Taurus in her navamsha chart.  The lord of Taurus is Venus, and Venus in her natal chart is exalted in her 9th House, which is a trikona or trine house.  Condition met.

Venus in Pisces occupies the sign of Cancer in her navamsha chart.  The lord of Cancer is the Moon, and the Moon in her natal chart is located in the sign of Capricorn (which is the sign of friend Saturn) in the 7th House, and the 7th House is a kendra or quadrant house.  Condition met.

Now, the only other stipulated condition is that the lagna (i.e., the Ascendant) lord should be strongly placed.  The Ascendant lord is the Moon, and it is strongly placed in the sign of a friend, and in a kendra.  Condition met.

Now, what is the result of having Mridanga Yoga?

"Respected by rulers, famous, attractive, and commanding much influence" (p. 69).  Rulers here can refer to rulers of the motion picture industry, since she indeed has become an actress.

But now this goes back to the original question--can it be seen in her chart that she was likely to become an actress?  Well, thanks to the research of American jyotishi, Marc Boney, this question is easy to answer in the affirmative.  Thanks to his groundbreaking article, Hollywood Knights: Acting and the 3rd House, her chart does meet the established researched guidelines for becoming an actress, namely, a link between her 3rd lord and 10th lord.

Please notice in her natal chart, that 3rd lord Mercury is located in her 9th House of fortune and luck, along with 10th House lord Mars! (as well as natural benefic Venus).  Now, there is much, much more to Mr. Boney's research findings of 35 Hollywood celebrities than this key signature, but this, combined with several other corroborating and confluent factors, are enough to answer the original question in the affirmative.

And this is bolstered not by the presence of one Mridanga Yoga, but 3 Mridanga Yogas!!!

 ;D

Don, A Famous Astrologer?
« Reply #2 on: January 17, 2014, 08:51:09 AM »
Hi Yogi James, I propose a similar Law or Yoga for Traditional Western Astrology:  If a natal chart contains 2 or more own sign planets and the ruler of the Asc is strong, the person will become famous for his line of work.   Let's test this law on Don Borkowski of the Tyl site.  Below is his natal Western chart and his Vedic chart which we will not use because it wipes out many of his exalted OR rulership planets, boo.
Don has Mercury in Virgo, and Sun in Leo,8th, Astrology, planets in their own sign.  In addition, he has traditional planets in their own sign, Mars in Scorpio, 10th, angular and Jupiter in Pisces, 2 planets in their own traditional rulership signs.  Jupiter in Pisces,in 3rd, communication,  rules his Asc, and is strong as it connects to Mars Scorpio in 10th of Fame.  His Nodal axes, is at the Aries Point, giving him Public presentation.
So our question is answered:  Don is a famous Astrologer due to his many Western combinations, rulership YOGAS.
Please note that Vedic astrology does not show Don to be a famous astrologer!
